Happy New Year!! Slightly belated but sincere wishes for good health, happiness and love in 2019.

In a prior entry, I talked about Bombas socks. In this entry, I’m going to focus on TOMS Shoes. Because what goes better with socks than shoes! OK, so much for my sense of humor. Moving on . . .

TOMS is well-known for providing a pair of shoes for someone in need for every pair you purchase. But it goes so much further. In their words, TOMS provides:

shoes, sight, water, safe birth and bullying prevention services to people in need.

More specifically they donate shoes – many made locally in the countries where they’re donated; prescription eye glasses along with a medical exam and any needed treatment with eye wear purchase; sustainable water systems in the seven countries where they source their coffee beans – who knew that Tom’s sells coffee beans? – yes, they sell coffee; materials and training to provide safe birth with sales of bags; and training school staff and crisis counselors in preventing bullying with purchase of the High Road Backpack.  Most recently, they have a campaign to end gun violence by encouraging customers to write to Congress to pass universal background checks.
