In a prior entry, I talked about Bombas socks. In this entry, I’m going to focus on TOMS Shoes. Because what goes better with socks than shoes! OK, so much for my sense of humor. Moving on . . .

TOMS is well-known for providing a pair of shoes for someone in need for every pair you purchase. But it goes so much further. In their words, TOMS provides:

This is the fourth in a series of blog posts highlighting retailers that sell excellent gifts in time for Christmas gift-giving, while meaningfully supporting important causes. I previously highlighted Kiva.org, Uncommon Goods, and Alex and Ani. In this post I highlight socks retailer Bombas.

Socks are hot. They’re everywhere as gifting options this year – both for yourself and others. I see ads for socks everywhere. Some with clever designs. Some with clever sayings. You’ve seen the ads on Facebook, the ones that feature the bottom of a pair of socks that say, “If you can see this” on one on, and “bring me wine” on the other. (Note to self: tag my husband later.) All that to say, that you don’t have to feel sheepish giving socks as gifts this year. Socks are in!

Season of Gifts #3: Alex and Ani

This is the third in a series of blog posts highlighting merchants that sell excellent gifts in time for Christmas gift-giving, while meaningfully supporting important causes. I previously highlighted Kiva.org and Uncommon Goods. In this post I look at bangle and necklace retailer Alex and Ani.

Alex and Ani make bracelets and necklaces in gold and silver, with a few rings and earrings thrown in. The Charity by Design collection benefits non-profit causes: specific charms for specific charities. In many cases they work with charities directly to design the charms. For example, this “You Are My Sunshine” Charm Bangle supports the Children’s Glaucoma Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting programs for children with glaucoma. Dog Gear That Helps Rescues

Well this was a pleasant surprise. I bought a new collar and leash for Ziggy ostensibly as a Christmas gift but really, his leash is shredded and won’t last long. As it turns out, I got them from Max and Neo and the company donates its products to dog rescues. I would have missed that detail entirely except the company sent me the following email:

Not sure how I missed that little detail given it’s right in the title of the product, but I did. I’m glad my purchase is supporting dog rescues . . . and so is Ziggy.
